C.R.D. Remembers the Elderly:
Taking care of the people of Canouan has always been a priority of C.R.D. and the Elderly is no exception. We at C.R.D. have been funding feeding programmes for the Ellerly through the Canouan Island Council for the past nine years. Last yearEC$21,840.00 was spent on feeding the Elderly in Canouan, a total of six persons benefitting from one meal per day - Monday through Saturday.
When Helen Child PR Co-ordinator C.C.A./C.R.D. visitied the site, informing residents nearby that work was going to be started on the fencing of the school compound, she discovered Ninety - Nine yearl old Ms. Anita Snagg.
I too met Ms. Snagg on my PR photo logging of our projects and activities and had a wondeful conversation with her.
She had many interesting stories and recounted her earlier days as a child. She being the odest of eight siblings, with two other surviving ones, the days with her children and the constant pain in her hip which prevented her from eating when she liked.
We took some groceries to Ms,. Snagg and found her sweeping her yard, spic and span it was, and shared some time with her.
Her memory is still very much in tact and her conversational skills are quite impressive.
At Ninety- Nine Ms. Snagg made quite an impression on me.
